Having worked in a variety of filmmaking environments, Elias approaches his work with a sense of lightheartedness, curiosity, and focus. By collaborating with a diversity of people in his documentary work, as well as with dancers, artists, and musicians in his more visually creative videos, he holds a unique bridge between traditional documentary storytelling and more experimental, poetic video work. Growing up in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts and working closely with nature before entering filmmaking, Elias moves with care and integrity for the people, stories, and environments in which he films.
